Global Residence Program (GRP)

This programme is an opportunity to optimise your personal tax. Foreign income remitted to Malta is taxed at a fixed rate of 15%.  GRP allows you to work, conduct business and reside in Malta, with 90 days’ stay in other Schengen countries every 180 days. Applicable for 4 Generations & Household Staff

The main applicant can include immediate family members across four generations in the initial application. Citizenship granted to all applicants is lifetime valid, and their descendants can apply for citizenship through registration.

Special Tax Status for Foreign Income

Investors enjoy a special fixed tax rate of 15% on all foreign income remitted to Malta.

Access to Local Healthcare &

Education 

Investors can use healthcare services across the EU with their health insurance, enjoy low-cost compulsory education (ages 5-16) in Malta, and use public transport for free, both on the road and at sea.

EU Long-Term Residence in 5 Years

Investors may apply for EU long-term residence after 5 years of consecutive residence under the Status of Long-Term (Third Country Nationals) Regulations.

Living & Doing Business in Malta

Investors can work locally or start a business with a corporate tax rate as low as 5%.

Visa-Free Travel to 180+ Countries

Residence permit-holders can fly directly to 29 Schengen countries, travel within the Schengen area without customs checks, and stay up to 90 days in other Schengen countries every 180 days.

1. At least 18 years old
2. Not an EU national
3. A clean criminal record
4. Not a beneficiary of a Maltese special tax programme upon submission of application
5. Complete the real estate investment requirements (see below)
6. Take out health insurance covering risks across the EU for all applicants
7. In receipt of stable and regular income to maintain themselves and their dependants
8. Pose no potential threat to Malta’s national security, public health, or public interest

  • ​Pay a non-refundable administrative fee of €6,000

  • Pay a professional fee to our partners:

    • €5,100 main applicant​

    • €1,700 dependant

  • Pay a minimum of tax of €15,000 every year to the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR)

  • Rent or buy a qualifying property

    • Rent a property for a minimum of €8,750/year in the South of Malta/Gozo or €9,600/year in the rest of Malta; or

    • Purchase a property for a minimum value of €275,000 in the South of Malta/Gozo or €220,000 in the rest of Malta

  • Hold the qualifying property to maintain special tax status and residence

  • File annual tax return every year

Letter of Engagement: 1 day

Applicant signs LOE with Agent

Application: 2 weeks

​Agent prepares documents and submits application and pays administrative fee on behalf of applicant.

Due Diligence: 1-3 months

​CFR issues Approval in Principle and may request more documents, and invites applicant for a short virtual interview.

Letter of intent: 2 weeks

​

CFR issues Letter of Intent and a notice of primary residence. Applicant pays tax of €15,000.

Property: 1-2 weeks

​

Applicant rents or purchases a qualifying property within 12 months.

Residence Application: 2 weeks

​

Agent submits residence application and makes a biometrics appointment.

07

Issuance: 2 weeks

​

Applicant captures biometrics and collects residence permit.

Typically, residence permits are issued within 3 to 4 months after submission of required documents
